Our work takes us all over Wales, but there's one very special wedding venue right at the heart of our capital that seems to be popular if your getting married in Cardiff! Cardiff Castle is a dramatic backdrop and ticks many of the boxes as a permier wedding venue in South Wales

We have shot many weddings as photographers in cardiff Castle and were back there again in September 2010 for the wedding of Sarah and Richard. The photo opposite was taken inside the castle on the main staircase and is one of my favourite bride shots from this summer.

Whilst the venue itself remains open to the public during the wedding its ceremony room is tucked away under ground level and with its tunnel like ceiling and old brickwork makes for a fantastic dungeon like room with orange torch lit lighting on the walls which adds to the ambience of the place and this certainly shows through in the photography.

I happened to be chatting to an American couple during a wedding there last year and she seemed to be amazed that there was this ancient castle so central to the city centre. They kept staring at the bride and were obviously trying to see what member of the royal family she was as they hadn't heard about any wedding on CNN. I assured her that whilst I'd love to be the photographer at a royal wedding; Castles in Wales are just part of our Landscape and culture and many are open to the public to host civil ceremonies.
